Light of Midnight Seminar by Mark Bowie
The New Haven Camera is sponsoring a 1-day seminar and night photography session with Mark Bowie entitled the Light of Midnight: Photographing the Landscape at Night. The seminar will occur on Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Branford, CT. Indoor instruction will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. followed by dinner followed by a night shooting session from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. The seminar fee is $99 per person. A minimum of 6 people are needed to hold the seminar and the maximum will be 12 people.

Nature's Elusive Beauty by Jennifer Wu
The New Haven Camera Club is presenting a 1-day seminar by Jennifer Wu entitled Nature's Elusive Beauty that will be sponsored by Canon. The seminar will be presented at the Whitney Center, 200 Leeder Hill Drive, Hamden, CT, on Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program is free and there is an optional lunch available for $10.50 for those who wish to take advantage of the opportunity.
Jennifer's presentation will be divided into four parts:
- Nature's Elusive Beauty, Composition for Nature and Landscape Photography
- Tips and Techniques
- Maximizing Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop
- The Amazing Night Sky
Jennifer Wu, a professional photographer since 1992, is a nature and landscape photographer as well as a photographer of the stars and the night sky.
Jennifer was named by Canon USA to the elite group of photographers, The Explorers of Light. Canon states, "The Explorers Of Light program is a group of 62 of the world's best photographers, united in their love and passion for photographic excellence. They also share a common desire to contribute back to the industry with a willingness to share their vision and passion with others." Jennifer enjoys sharing her enthusiasm and passion for nature photography in lectures and workshops for Canon. She is especially proud that Canon publishes her spectacular sky photographs in their professional camera brochures.
Her images, featured in numerous magazines and books, have won a wide variety of prestigious awards. Whenever she is not on nature expeditions at some of the most beautiful locations in the world, she exhibits her images at galleries and art shows.
Jennifer, born in Illinois in 1968, grew up in Davis, California. She moved to Sacramento to attend California State University, Sacramento, where she received a BA in Photography. She currently lives in Sacramento.
She taught photography and digital imaging at California State University Sacramento. She now enjoys lecturing, teaching seminars and speaking events as well as leading workshops for Canon and aFilm International Film Workshops Barcelona, Spain. She leads workshops to Alaska, Hawaii, Yosemite, Death Valley, Namibia and Iceland.

Ian Plant Seminar Rescheduled
The all-day seminar, A Day with Ian Plant, that had to be postponed previously, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2013. This seminar is presented by the Charter Oak Photographic Society and is sponsored in part by Hunt's Photo and Video. The seminar will be held at Trinity-on-Main Cultural Center, 69 Main St., New Britain, CT. The seminar begins with registration from 8 to 9 a.m. The price for members of the Charter Oak Photographic Society is $40 and $45 for non-members if you register in advance, $10 additional if you pay at the door.
The morning presentation is entitled Chasing the Light: Field Techniques for making Great Nature Photographs. The afternoon presentation is entitled Optimizing the Light: Digital Darkroom Techniques for Bringing Your Photos to Their Fullest Potential.

Flower Photography Seminar/Workshop in PA
Denise Ippolito will be presenting a 2-day workshop near Philadelphia on March 22-24, 2013. Part of the time will be spent in a classroom setting and part at Longwood Gardens photographing in the conservatory. For this seminar you will need to bring your camera,
macro lens and tripod as the group will be doing a shooting
session in a classroom setting. Participants are
encouraged to bring their laptops to follow along and
also work with their images- processing them in
Photoshop and enhancing them using Nik Software, OnOne
Software, Topaz Labs, Fractalius and Snap Art (free
downloads are available for each of the programs that we
will be using and a list of software will be available
at sign-up). The optional in-the-field workshop at
Longwood Gardens in PA will be a great way to roll up
your sleeves and apply all of your new techniques in the
field. Longwood Gardens will be displaying their Orchid
Extravaganza on Sunday, we will be photographing inside
the conservatory which is HUGE!!
